DESCRIPTION OF THE JEWELRY
Silver Blossom and Moonlight earrings combine traditional and modern designs. featuring silver floral carvings paired with crescent-shaped pendants, reflecting a distinctive ethnic charm. The silver earrings are handcrafted by local artisans of the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou.
Technique: This piece is crafted using weaving techniques, one of the most intricate and patience-demanding skills in silversmithing. The artisan meticulously twists two silver wires, finer than a human hair, and weaves them into the framework before soldering. The weaving process creates an array of exquisite decorative patterns, showcasing unparalleled craftsmanship. However, the traditional Miao silver-work technique is under threat of extinction and has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
Material: Fine silver and sterling silver- 17g.
Hangings: 5cm
*Fine silver, with a millesimal fineness of 999, is also known as pure silver. Although its softness makes it less commonly used in modern jewelry making due to the challenges it poses during crafting, artisan artists from the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou continue to work with fine silver to preserve their traditional craftsmanship. Their dedication results in high-quality, exquisitely crafted pieces that demonstrate exceptional artistry and skill.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
All silver jewelry will naturally age and tarnish over time. To reduce air exposure, store each piece individually in a small sealed plastic bag after removing as much air as possible. If oxidation occurs, use a silver polishing cloth to restore its shine.
